Here is my trusty homemade f/9 6-inch solar reflector, Dob Sun, next to my 6-inch f/5 "Red Dwarf" with a homemade Baader solar filter, which is firmly attached to the tube with duct tape. I made this telescope in the early 1990's in John Dobson's telescope making class in San Francisco, CA. Actually I ground the mirror and my friend Ray Cash made the mount (but I painted it yellow). There is also a picture of this type of telescope in the Astronomical League's "Observe and Understand the Sun" booklet, edited by Rik Hill. I found this booklet to be instrumental for completing the AL Sunspotter program, This picture was taken at a sidewalk astronomy solar eclipse party in San Francisco on June 10, 2002.
